Security levels

There are two different levels of security that all Macquarie electronic banking customers can choose from. To select or to update which level of security you’d like to hold for your Macquarie account/s simply go to the settings option in online banking or on the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

The two levels of security are:

Enhanced level

With enhanced security, you’ll need multi-factor authentication for:

  • Log ins to browsers on devices you have not accessed Macquarie Online Banking from before
  • Sensitive account detail changes
  • Certain financial transactions.

Ultimate level

This is the highest level of security. With ultimate security you’ll need multi-factor authentication for:

  • Log ins to all browsers
  • Sensitive account detail changes
  • All financial transactions.

With Ultimate security you can also:

  • View the location of successful and unsuccessful logins
  • Monitor the location of certain account activity such as browser trusting and connected devices.

Security enhancements June 2022

In June 2022 we updated all Macquarie electronic banking customers from the Standard level (no longer available) to the Enhanced level of security.

If you have been updated from the Standard to the Enhanced level, you may need to complete multi-factor authentication when logging in from a new browser.
